Ariel means “The Lion of God”, and he is a lesser known angel much of whose lore comes from varying sources which include mysticism and gnostic texts.
Historically, Ariel was often pictured as a lion-headed diety with great power over the Earth, which is likely why he is sometimes referred to as “Earth’s great lord”. In occult writings, it is said he rules over the element of water, beasts, elemental spirits, the North and is often called “wielder of fire”.
